Dinnington miners line up in 1926 strike
A FASCINATING historical photograph shows miners outside the Falcon Hotel in Dinnington during the 1926 strike.
It shows the old Falcon Inn as it was up until the 1950s and 60s with the mock Tudor frontage.
It was run by Mr Dickinson who was the landlord for quite a number of years, and was known for his generosity regarding the cricket club and other local groups.
The Dinnington branch of the Buffs held meetings at the Falcon and Mr Dickinson was a loyal supporter.
A soup kitchen was organised, and food distributed at from there during the strike.
The History Society has a huge collection of early photograps depicting Dinnington and surrounding area, we are always looking for more to borrow and place on our database.
The group meets at Dinnington Resource Centre eery Thursday from 10am to 12pm, with an annual membership cost of 5.
