A rail treat for children
A train similar to the one children would have boarded back in 1904
THE annual excursion for the older children of the Sunday Schools took place on Monday 25th July. Skegness was the place chosen this year again, and it proved quite as attractive as before.
The train started from Kiveton Park at 7.30am and altogether there were nearly 200 children. This year there was a far larger number of adults went with us than ever before.
The weather was fine, and consequently everybody enjoyed the day’s outing.
This year, fortunately, none were left behind, and we were all set down safely at Kiveton soon after 10 o’clock.
The railway fare for the children amounted to £13/14/7, which leaves our Sunday School Fund somewhat in debt.
This is another abstract from the Wales Church Parish magazines which was published in September 1904.
This article has been kindly prepared by Marie Godfrey of the Kiveton and Wales History Society who meet on the third Thursday of the month at the Old Colliery Offices starting at 6.30pm.
They have guest speakers each alternate month and light refreshments are served.
